Weber Workshops MoonSpring Alloy Needles – Replacement Needles for the Moonraker

A quick knock against the basket rim, the needle gives way and then stands straight again. The raking carries on as if nothing had happened.

MoonSpring Alloy Needles are replacement needles for the Moonraker from Weber Workshops, made from a highly resilient alloy. According to Weber, they are a direct replacement for the original Moonraker needles. Coffee Coaching Club is the official Swiss importer of Weber Workshops.

What is different from the original needles?

According to Weber Workshops, the MoonSpring needles are exceptionally bend-resistant. They give way when necessary and spring back into shape. An accidental pinch, a knock or a fall therefore leaves a bent needle far less often.

Do the needles fit my Moonraker?

Weber Workshops describes MoonSpring as a direct replacement for the original Moonraker needles and assigns the needles to both editions, Standard and Ultra. According to Weber, the two editions differ only in the material of the gearing.

Weber Workshops MoonSpring needle change on the Moonraker

In the Moonraker, neodymium magnets hold the needles, and they can be pulled out and swapped in seconds. The long needles are meant to be shortened: according to Weber, the Moonraker is optimised for baskets from 18 to 22 g, and for larger or smaller baskets you adjust the length.

Whether you swap all the needles straight away or put the set in the drawer as a reserve is up to you. We would first replace the needles that have already been bent once. Our opinion is one of many.

For anyone who works with a Moonraker, whether Standard or Ultra. For anyone who would like to replace a bent needle, and for anyone who uses their Moonraker with baskets outside 18 to 22 g and cuts needles to length for this.

    What goes with it?

You'll find the Moonraker itself in our Weber Workshops Collection. For anyone who wants WDT that is affordable and precise, there is the WDT Tool from Normcore.

After WDT comes the tamper: for anyone who wants to tamp affordably and precisely: Normcore. If you want more: the Really Nice Tamper from Weber Workshops. Our tamper selection shows all models.

For weighing the dose: for anyone who wants scales that are affordable and precise: Normcore. If you want an app, Bluetooth and a flow-rate display: Acaia.

Our advice tool shows which machine and grinder suit you. From stock we deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2–4 working days, and Click & Collect is available in Bern and Zurich.

Can I see the product before buying?

Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range. Drop us a line at [email protected] before your visit, and we'll check whether the MoonSpring needles are on site.

Where can I buy the Weber Workshops MoonSpring Alloy Needles in Switzerland?

At Coffee Coaching Club, the official Swiss importer of Weber Workshops: online with delivery across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein, or with Click & Collect in Bern and Zurich. We answer questions at [email protected], by phone during business hours or at coffeecoachingclub.ch.

Tip from the roastery: At fine grind settings, freshly ground coffee tends to form clumps, and that is exactly where WDT comes in: the needles loosen the bed before you tamp. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight bring chocolate and nut to the cup, while Very Nutty brings maximum body without acidity. If you'd like to discover something fruity, you'll find it in Wild Peach. Any other bean you enjoy is just as right. That's our recommendation, one of many.
