The original Flair Espresso Filling Funnel for Classic and Signature fits perfectly on the 58mm portafilter of the standard models and enlarges the opening at the top. The grounds reliably land where they should. No more crumb dancing, no losses, no extra wiping after every shot.
What the Filling Funnel Does
The principle is as simple as it is effective. After grinding, coffee grounds are extremely light and electrostatically charged. Even the smallest air movements can cause particles to drift away. A 58mm basket, on the other hand, has a relatively small target area – especially if the grind chute is higher up and the grounds have some scatter angle. The Filling Funnel extends the upper edge of the basket by a few centimeters upwards, creating a catch zone that keeps even the finest grind in the basket.
This is not a lifestyle question, but a question of dosing precision. If you put 18.0 g into the funnel, you don't want to end up with 17.4 g in the basket because 0.6 g landed on the counter. The ratio of brew water to coffee is the most important single variable in espresso – a Filling Funnel keeps this ratio clean.

Who it's Made For
For all owners of a Flair Classic or Flair Signature whose original funnel is lost, defective, or simply nowhere to be found. The Filling Funnel is usually included with these models – available as a spare part or second piece for a clean workflow. Those who purchase the funnel for the first time because the counter needs a small cleaning after every shot will wonder how they ever managed without it.
There are separate solutions for the other Flair models. If you have a Flair PRO or PRO 2, you will find the matching Dosing Funnel Pro in the Flair Espresso Collection. The Flair 58 has its own magnetic Filling Funnel. And the Preheat Funnel is a different tool for a different purpose: it sits not on the portafilter, but on the brew cylinder, and uses steam from the kettle to preheat.
What Else Fits
A Filling Funnel makes filling clean. But what comes before determines the grind quality. A good grinder is the biggest lever in manual espresso. Affordable and precise, we recommend the Comandante C40 as a hand grinder or the electric VS3 from the Varia Collection. After filling comes distribution and tamping. A WDT tool distributes the grounds evenly in the basket and reduces channeling, while a tamper presses cleanly. Which Flair models is this Filling Funnel for?
Flair Classic and Flair Signature – i.e., the non-electric models with the Standard Brew Head. For PRO and PRO 2 there is a separate Dosing Funnel Pro, for the Flair 58 a magnetic Filling Funnel.
What material is the Filling Funnel made of?
Polycarbonate – a lightweight, impact-resistant plastic that is suitable for food contact and can easily withstand temperature fluctuations.
Do I even need the Filling Funnel?
Anyone filling freshly ground coffee with a standard Flair regularly loses particles next to the basket without a funnel. This is possible, but it is untidy and imprecise. The funnel solves the problem – it is included in the original scope of delivery for Classic and Signature for a reason.
What is the difference to the Flair Preheat Funnel?
Two different tools. The Filling Funnel sits on the portafilter and helps with filling with coffee grounds. The Preheat Funnel sits on the brew cylinder and uses steam from the kettle for preheating – so that the first cup is not too cool.
