MHW-3BOMBER SE Pro Needle Distributor 58 mm – evenly distributed with one press
You place the SE Pro on the portafilter, the magnets hold it in position, and you press the handle down. Beneath your hand, fourteen fine needles turn back and forth through the freshly ground coffee, break up clumps and leave a loose, level bed. Let go, lift off, tamp.
How it works: when you press, the needle plate turns back and forth. The 14 stainless steel needles with a diameter of 0.25 mm are arranged in concentric circles and so cover the entire surface of the basket. How deep they reach into the coffee is set steplessly on the adjustment ring between 20 and 30 mm, to match the fill height of your basket. A needle distributor like this is often called a WDT tool.
Does it fit your portafilter?
The SE Pro is designed for 58 mm portafilters with two ears. It is not compatible with 58 mm portafilters with angled ears or with three ears. If you are unsure, ask us before you buy, we are happy to look at it with you.
SE Pro, Cyclone, Castle or Lightning?
At MHW-3BOMBER you will find several needle distributors. The Cyclone Needle Distributor from the Yu series and the Castle Needle Distributor also loosen the coffee with needles, each with its own design. If you prefer to stir by hand, the Lightning WDT Tool 2.0 is a simple place to start. Which handling suits you is a matter of taste.
What is in the box and care
Alongside the needle distributor, the box contains a brush and a storage mat. In our experience it is enough to brush the coffee off the needles and needle plate after use and to set the distributor down on the mat.

Who it is made for
For you if you pull several shots every morning and want distribution done quickly and the same way every time: set the depth once, then one press is enough. For households and small bars where several people work at the same machine and every puck should still be prepared the same way. And for everyone who grinds fine for espresso and struggles with clumps in the basket.
Tip from our café: Set the needle depth so that the needles end just above the bottom of the basket. That way you reach the whole coffee bed without touching the bottom. In our experience, even distribution shows most clearly with beans that have a distinct aroma: our Cozy Nut, an Italian-style espresso blend, runs round, nutty and chocolatey with it. Bright Cassis, an omniroast, shows its blackcurrant note more cleanly when nothing channels. And if you are after body without acidity, go for Very Nutty. You will find all our coffees under coffee beans. That is our recommendation, one of many.
