Normcore Pressure-Adjustable Tamper Titan PVD Patterned Wood
A handle in colourful, patterned wood, each piece with its own grain, and beneath it the rich anthracite of the PVD coating. As you guide the tamper into the portafilter, you feel the defined resistance of the spring, hear the soft click – and your eye lingers on the wood before the shot even starts to flow.
The same spring-loaded mechanism as the classic pressure-adjustable tamper, with a handle in patterned wood and titanium PVD coating.
What makes this tamper special
The mechanics stay the same: a pre-calibrated spring releases the same force every time it triggers, and the self-levelling plate rests on the rim of the basket, keeping the tamp perfectly even. Three interchangeable springs are included – 15 lb, 25 lb and 30 lb, with the middle one already installed. When tamping, you press down and turn clockwise at the same time, for the most even result.
The handle is crafted from colourful, patterned wood – a distinctive touch on the counter. The titanium PVD coating on the stainless steel is anti-static, harder than the steel underneath and corrosion-resistant, and it noticeably reduces the coffee grounds that stick to the tool after tamping. Whether you prefer the plain or the wood-handled version comes down to taste, and that's just our view, one of many.

Which base and which size
At 58.5 mm, the tamper fits the common 58 mm portafilters of most espresso machines, for example from La Marzocco, Rocket, ECM, Profitec or Lelit. It's available with a flat base and as a Ripple Base version, whose grooved base imprints a pattern into the puck and helps support even saturation. Every coffee path is welcome with us.
What goes with it
A Tamping Station holds the portafilter steady – it and the matching Puck Screen, WDT Tool or dosing funnel are waiting in our Normcore Collection. Anyone who wants maximum material quality in their accessories takes a look at the Weber Workshops Collection.
Grinder and machine make up the trio behind it: affordable precision in the Varia Collection, maximum clarity at Weber Workshops or Option-O. The right espresso machine to go with it is waiting through our consultation tool.
Frequently asked questions about the Normcore Tamper Patterned Wood
What's the difference between a flat base and Ripple Base?
The flat base compacts the coffee bed evenly. The Ripple Base has a grooved surface that imprints a pattern into the puck, helping support even saturation.
What does the titanium PVD coating do?
It's anti-static, harder than the stainless steel underneath and corrosion-resistant. Coffee grounds noticeably stick less to the tool, which means less cleaning.
Which spring should I use?
The middle 25 lb spring comes pre-installed. 15 lb for a finer grind size and lighter roasts, 30 lb for stronger pressure and denser pucks. All three springs are included.
Can I see the tamper before buying?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zürich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Ordering online is the primary way, with delivery across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2 to 4 working days.
Roastery tip
A tamper that catches the eye turns the espresso ritual into a moment. For a dense, sweet espresso we like to reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight. If you like it full and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. That's our recommendation, one of many, and whichever bean tastes good to you is the right one.
