Varia AURA Smart Kettle 1.5L – Kettle with PID Control and High-Flow Outlet
Guests over for brunch: you need coffee for four, matcha for two and hot water for tea. The AURA 1.5L sits on the counter, the OLED display shows 94°C, and you pour the first French press. Back on the base – the memory function holds the temperature. Second pot, third pot, then down to 76°C for matcha. One and a half litres is enough, without refilling in between.
Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer of Varia. The AURA 1.5L is available in black and white.
What sets the 1.5L apart from the 0.8L
Beyond capacity, the key difference is the spout. Where the AURA 0.8L has a gooseneck spout for precise pour-over, the 1.5L version offers a high-flow spout with stepless flow control across three levels (low, medium, high). That allows both slow and fast pours and suits a broader range of uses: cupping, French press, tea, Americano or simply as a kitchen kettle with temperature control. The lid is plastic with a stainless-steel interior, and the total weight is 1.39 kg – despite almost double the capacity, only slightly heavier than the 0.8L.
What the AURA brings
The PID control keeps the set temperature stable between 40 and 100°C in 1°C steps. The 1200 W Strix element brings 500 ml to temperature in about three minutes, the memory function holds it for up to 90 minutes, and smart wake-up can be programmed to a set time. The OLED display shows temperature and progress in real time, controlled via a multifunction dial. Dry-run protection and automatic shutoff when lifted are built in.

Who the AURA 1.5L is for
The 1.5L suits everyone who needs more volume than the 0.8L offers: cupping, French press, larger pour-overs like Chemex for several cups, matcha at 75 to 77°C for a whole group, or as a versatile kitchen kettle. The high-flow spout is deliberately wider than a gooseneck. If you mainly do single-cup pour-over with a V60 and need maximum pouring control, you're better served with the AURA 0.8L Gooseneck .
Good to know
Press the button before you lift the kettle off the base – otherwise the device restarts when you set it back down. Fully filled, the empty weight and water add up to just under 3 kg, which is noticeable when handling it. For very slow, precise V60 pours, the finer stream of the 0.8L is the better choice.
What goes with it
As a complement for precise pour-over, the AURA 0.8L Gooseneck, for weighing the Normcore scales or the Acaia scales, plus grinders and brewers from the Varia collection and freshly roasted beans from our coffee roastery.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the 1.5L and the 0.8L?
Larger capacity and a high-flow spout with flow control instead of the gooseneck. The 1.5L is more versatile for French press, cupping and larger quantities, the 0.8L more precise for single-cup pour-over.
Does the high-flow spout also work for pour-over?
Yes, thanks to the three flow levels, slower pours are also possible. For maximum control with a single-cup V60, the gooseneck of the 0.8L is finer.
What voltage does the Swiss version have?
220/240 V. In our shop, the Swiss version is set as the default.
Can I see the AURA before buying?
In the showrooms in Bern and Zürich we carry Varia products. Let us know shortly beforehand so the kettle is on site.
Roastery tip
The 1.5L is the kettle for mornings when it needs to be more than one cup. French press with our Cozy Chocolate at 94°C, coarse grind, four minutes – the chocolate comes through dense and round. Chemex with the Nutty Delight at 93°C, ground a bit finer – nutty and clear. The memory function keeps the temperature stable between pours. That's our recommendation, one of many.
