Varia AURA Smart Kettle 0.8L – Gooseneck Water Kettle with PID Temperature Control
Sunday morning: you turn the dial, set 93°C and wait – not even three minutes. Then you pour slowly in circles, the water meets the coffee bed, the aroma rises; you feel the resistance in the spout and steer the flow. The AURA 0.8L turns boiling water into a deliberate step in the ritual.
Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer of Varia. The AURA 0.8L is available in two handle variants – Standard and FLUX Edition – each in black and white.
Standard or FLUX Edition
Both share the same technology: PID control, 1200 W Strix heating element, OLED display, memory function, smart wake-up and gooseneck with Flow Control. The difference lies in the handle – the standard version has a classic handle with a counterweight for balance, the FLUX Edition an ergonomic handle with several grip positions. Which suits you better depends on how you hold the kettle; the FLUX's heat-up time is minimally shorter.
What the AURA brings
The PID control keeps the set temperature stable between 40 and 100°C, the gooseneck spout with a flow restrictor allows a flow rate of roughly 2.2 to 22 ml/s. Whether pour-over at 93°C, green tea at 70°C or matcha at 75 to 77°C – you set the temperature, the AURA holds it. The 1200 W Strix element brings 500 ml to temperature in under three minutes, the memory function holds it for up to 90 minutes, and the smart wake-up function can be programmed to a set time.

Who the AURA 0.8L is for
The 0.8L suits pour-over like V60, Chemex or Kalita Wave, tea with precise temperature and matcha. Wherever pouring speed and a stable temperature matter, the gooseneck plays to its strengths. If you need larger quantities for French press or cupping, you're better served with the AURA 1.5L with a high-flow spout.
Good to know
Press the button before you lift the kettle off the base – otherwise the device restarts when you set it back down. The body is made of 304 stainless steel, the base of plastic, as is common with electric kettles. There's no app connection; control happens via dial and buttons – depending on your view, an advantage or a limitation.
What goes with it
The AURA pairs well with the brewers and the Varia FLO Dripper from the Varia collection, for weighing the Normcore scales or the Acaia scales, and freshly roasted beans from our coffee roastery, plus filters and further pour-over accessories in the filter equipment.

Frequently asked questions
Which version do I need for Switzerland?
The 220/240 V version. In our shop, the Swiss version is set as the default.
Standard or FLUX Edition?
The technology is identical, the difference lies in the handle. If you use different pouring techniques or often hold the kettle from the side, you'll likely find the FLUX handle more comfortable.
Is the AURA also available larger?
Yes, the AURA 1.5L with high-flow spout, suited to French press and cupping.
Can I see the AURA before buying?
In the showrooms in Bern and Zürich we carry Varia products. Let us know shortly beforehand so the kettle is on site.
Roastery tip
The brew temperature shifts the profile: higher temperatures around 94 to 96°C emphasise body, lower ones around 88 to 92°C tend toward fruity notes – depending on roast and grind level. For pour-over, we start with our Cozy Chocolate at around 93°C, the Nutty Delight forgives small fluctuations well and is good for practising. That's our recommendation, one of many.
