WPM Primus – When your milk foam is better than in a café
Imagine this: You serve your guests cappuccino. They drink it. They look at you. "This is better than at the café around the corner."
You smile. You know it.
Your milk foam is fine-pored, glossy, perfect. Your latte art – a heart, a tulip, a rosetta – sits perfectly on the crema. Not blurred. Not too thick. Perfect.
The secret? The WPM Primus .
The Primus is famous in the barista scene for its "dry steam"—a feature many machines (even more expensive ones) lack. While other machines often spit out water or deliver insufficient power, the Primus provides pure, dry steam. The steam is hot, strong, and consistent—perfect for latte art, perfect for creamy foam, perfect for you.
And then there's the speed . Thanks to state-of-the-art triple thermoblock technology, the Primus is ready to go in 2-3 minutes. No more waiting 30 minutes like with old boiler machines. Switch it on, grind the beans, drink your cappuccino. It should be that simple.
WPM (Welhome Pro) builds machines for people who love milk drinks and understand technology. The Primus proves that you don't need huge boilers for professional-grade coffee. As an official WPM Premium dealer in Switzerland , we offer you this powerhouse directly from stock – with support, warranty, and the assurance that you're getting the genuine article.
The chemist's perspective: simply eliminate bitterness.
As coffee roasters and aroma specialists, we understand: bitterness is not a fault of the bean – it is a fault of the extraction.
Normally, water is forced onto the coffee grounds at a full 9 bar – full pressure, instantly, no mercy. With dark roasts like our Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate, this can sometimes taste harsh – too much bitterness, too little sweetness.
The Primus features a gear pump that allows you to control the pressure during brewing – from a gentle 3 bar (pre-infusion) to a full 9 bar (maximum pressure). You can see the pressure curve live on the display – full control, full transparency.
We recommend: Start gently with low pressure (3-4 bar for 5 seconds). Allow the coffee grounds to bloom, darken, and prepare. Then increase to 9 bar for the main extraction.
The chemical effect: You gently extract the sweetness (organic acids, sugars) instead of forcing out bitter substances (unwanted tannins, over-extracted compounds). Your espresso becomes noticeably smoother, rounder, creamier. The chocolate comes through. The nuttiness comes through. The bitterness stays out.
This isn't simply "better"—it's fundamentally different. This is control over chemistry. This is why Primus is so special.
Your perfect morning ritual with the Primus
The Primus isn't complicated. It's fast, intuitive, brilliant. Imagine:
-
7:00 AM – Start (No waiting time):
You press the power button. The Primus hums quietly. You weigh your beans – 18g for a doppio, perhaps using the Timemore Black Mirror or the Acaia Lunar . You grind them in your Varia VS4 (20 seconds). By the time you're finished, the Primus display is flashing: Ready. 2-3 minutes. That's record time. -
7:03 AM – The reference (control & transparency):
You insert the portafilter. You press the button. The display shows you live: pressure, temperature, time. You see the pressure rise – 3 bar, 5 bar, 7 bar, 9 bar. You can play with the pressure paddle if you want (pre-infusion, then full), or you can simply let the machine do its thing (9 bar constant). Both methods work brilliantly.
The shot flows – golden brown, thick, perfect. You can taste it even on the smell: This is different. This is smoother. This is more rounded. No bitterness. Just sweetness. This is pressure profiling. This is chemistry. This is perfection. -
7:04 AM – The star moment (milk foam like in a dream):
Now comes the WPM moment. The reason why the Primus is so famous.
You pour cold milk into your pitcher (300ml for a cappuccino). You immerse the steam wand. You open the valve. And then it happens:
The steam is dry . Not wet, not dripping, but pure, hot power. The milk immediately begins to rotate ("rolling phase") – a whirlpool, a vortex, perfect. You hear the soft hissing. You see the milk frothing – fine-pored, glossy, like cream.
You're done in 20 seconds. The milk is at 65°C. The foam is perfect. You pour it into your cup – slowly, with control. The heart forms. The crema rises. The white blends with the brown. Latte art. Perfect.
Your guests will ask, "Where did you learn that?" You smile. That's not talent. That's Primus. That's dry steam. That's why WPM is backstage at latte art championships. -
7:06 AM – Enjoy:
You drink your cappuccino. And you realize: It's better than in a café. The milk foam is creamier. The espresso is smoother. The balance is perfect.Perfect for milk drinksThe Primus shines with a latte. We recommend:
-
Nutty Delight (Blend):
The absolute favorite for Primus. Hazelnut and chocolate flavors overpower the milk – creamy, nutty, sweet. Perfect for cappuccino or flat white. That's why we roast it. -
Cozy Chocolate:
Turn your cappuccino into hot chocolate (with just caffeine). Velvety, sweet, creamy. No syrup needed. Just milk, espresso, perfection. That's Comfort in a Cup.
-
Nutty Delight (Blend):
The entire ritual – from switching it on to the perfect cappuccino – takes 6 minutes. That's the difference between "impossible in the morning" and "part of my morning routine." That's why you need a Primus.

Who is the WPM Primus right for?
You don't need the Primus. A cheaper machine will do – somehow.
But treat yourself to the Primus if:
- You love milk-based drinks . If you don't just drink espresso, but cappuccino, flat white, latte. If you want milk foam that's creamy, finely textured, perfect. The Primus is built for milk – dry steam, powerful performance, constant temperature. That's its superpower.
- If you want to learn latte art . If you want to pour hearts, tulips, rosettas – not just in a café, but at home. The Primus makes it possible. The dry steam is the reason why WPM is so popular at competitions. That's not by chance. That's engineering.
- You don't have time to waste . If you don't want to wait 30 minutes in the morning for your machine to heat up, the Primus is ready in 2-3 minutes. That's the difference between "impossible" and "doable."
- You want control . If you want to understand how pressure profiling changes the flavor. If you want to experiment with pre-infusion, different pressure curves, and temperature. The Primus gives you that control – with an LCD display, PID, and gear pump. That's transparency. That's craftsmanship.
Or maybe you simply want it because you deserve the best. Because the Primus isn't just a machine – it's a tool for coffee enthusiasts. An instrument for latte art. An upgrade to your morning routine.
That's reason enough.

Frequently asked questions about WPM Primus
Is a thermoblock inferior to a boiler?
Not with WPM. Its modern triple hybrid technology delivers temperature stability that rivals older boilers – but it uses less electricity, heats up much faster (2-3 minutes vs. 30 minutes), and you always have fresh water because it doesn't sit in the boiler for hours. That's intelligent engineering. That's why modern machines use thermoblocks.
Which grinder is compatible with the Primus?
Since the Primus is fast, we recommend a fast grinder like the Varia VS4 (53mm burrs, 15 seconds for 18g) or the VS6 (58mm burrs, variable RPM). For maximum convenience (grind-by-weight, no weighing required), the Mahlkönig E64 WS is ideal. All three work brilliantly with the Primus.
Can I really do latte art with this?
Yes, better than most other machines in this price range. The special nozzle shape and dry steam (SuperSteam technology) are the reason why WPM machines are often seen backstage at latte art competitions. This isn't marketing – it's reality. The milk foam is fine-pored, glossy, perfect. Latte art works. Instantly.
Is pressure profiling complicated?
No. You can simply run the Primus at a constant 9 bar – then it behaves like a normal machine. But if you want to experiment, you have the pressure paddle – turn it at the beginning for pre-infusion (3-4 bar for 5 seconds), then open it fully for 9 bar. This makes the espresso smoother, sweeter, and more rounded. It's optional – but once you've tried it, you won't want to go back.
Why buy from you?

Roastery tip: The Primus shines with our Nutty Delight – use gentle pressure profiling (4 bar pre-infusion for 5 seconds, then 9 bar), and the espresso will be creamy, nutty, and sweet. Zero bitterness, maximum chocolate. Make a cappuccino with dry steam – the milk will be velvety, glossy, perfect. Pour a heart. Your guests will be speechless. That's the difference dry steam makes. That's why you want a Primus.
