The Orion Mini doses whole beans by weight before they go into the grinder. You place the cup on the platform, choose the target weight with the dial, and a patented auger moves the beans without damaging them. According to Acaia, the Mini gives up neither design nor function compared with the large Orion and its platform of around 20 cm.

Smart dosing system
The Orion Mini compares previous target weights with the amount actually dispensed and adjusts its dosing. Over time, the margin of error gets smaller.
Smaller footprint
The platform measures around 10 cm (4 inches). That lets the Orion Mini fit on a compact, busy bar or at a packing station.

Fully automatic mode
In Auto mode, the Orion Mini doses as soon as a container is on the platform. Several containers one after another, without pressing a button.
Scale mode
The Orion Mini also works as a scale with 3000 g capacity and 0.1 g resolution. Alongside Auto and scale mode, there is manual mode for everyday dosing.
Dial with three memory slots
With the dial you save three target weights and call them up directly.
Care
Acaia recommends a soft cloth with warm water. Detergents and other chemicals can damage the anodised surface.
For us, consistent dosing is part of a simple approach: we dial in espresso by weight, never by time alone. We grind fine, start at 14.5 g and work our way up, usually to 17 g, at a ratio below 1:2. Beans, humidity and people change every day; a consistent input dose takes one variable out. A scale and a little routine reach the same goal. Our opinion is one of many.

Who the Orion Mini is made for
For everyone with little counter space who wants to dose consistently by weight: the compact coffee bar, the narrow counter, the packing station. If you want more throughput, you will find the large Orion; if you want to dose small single doses finely, the Orion Nano. All three are in our Acaia Collection.
