It's the smallest movement in the whole ritual, and the one that carries the most. A wand that's wiped straight after frothing brings only milk and steam next time, and nothing from yesterday. Two cloths, two jobs
The set contains two microfibre cloths, one in light grey and one in dark blue. The two colours aren't a coincidence: at our place, one stays with the steam wand and only comes into contact with milk, the other is for the housing, cup warmer tray and drip tray. That keeps the two uses apart without anyone having to think about it. That's how we do it, one way of many – if you do it differently, that doesn't make it wrong.
Microfibre absorbs liquid and grease without any cleaning agent having to be added, and leaves neither lint nor streaks on stainless steel. Sewn-in magnets hold the cloth on the machine's chassis, right where you reach for it, rather than on a hook on the other side of the kitchen. The ECM branding stays subtle.

Who the cloths are made for
For anyone who stands at a portafilter machine every day – an ECM just as much as any other machine. A barista cloth isn't a question of brand, it's a tool, and the magnets hold wherever the housing holds them.
Two separate cloths make the most sense if you work with milk a lot. If you only pull espresso, simply use the second as a spare while the first is in the wash. The ECM collection shows which machines we have, or, more broadly, the overview of coffee machines.
What goes with it
A cloth keeps the surfaces clean; the group head needs something else. In our machine and grinder cleaning collection you'll find what you need for the daily backflush without detergent and the round with detergent roughly every fifty shots – the latter takes about five minutes.
