What a naked portafilter offers
A naked portafilter removes the spout, providing a clear view of the bottom of the puck. You'll immediately recognize channeling – i.e., preferential water paths – by bright splashes or uneven flow. This makes it a diagnostic tool for distribution and tamping: those who prepare properly will get an even, centered flow and, ultimately, a round crema. The walnut handle is an aesthetic detail with a good grip.
