IMS Baristapro Precision Basket D22661 – ridgeless, 20 g (58 mm)
Twenty grams of coffee grounds, a taller puck in the 26mm basket – and when rinsed, water beads smoothly off the electropolished wall. More coffee, and the consistent hole pattern still keeps extraction calm and even.
Nobody needs a precision basket to pull good espresso – the original basket does its job. You want it because the cup becomes denser, rounder, and clearer. This is one of many possible decisions, and we respect it either way.
What makes this basket special
The Baristapro D22661 is IMS' precise all-rounder: 661 laser-cut holes, evenly distributed, ensure that water flows through the puck at the same speed everywhere – fewer channels, fewer over- and under-extracted spots. With a higher dose like 20 g, this consistency particularly pays off: more body without the extraction running wild. The surface is electropolished: smoother, more robust, easier to clean. Espresso is extraction based on a weight ratio, usually 1:2; what you taste is density, sweetness, and a long finish – caramel, chocolate, and nut clearly in the foreground. Taste and smell are inseparable – a large part of the aroma is created retronasally, when swallowing. It is our observation that the choice of basket fundamentally changes the aroma profile. Made from AISI-304 stainless steel in Italy.

Who it's for
For everyone who likes more body and intensity and enjoys dosing a bit higher – without the extraction becoming uneven. All budgets are welcome. If you prefer a leaner or stronger dose, you'll find the same basket in 15, 18, and 22 g. You belong here because you love coffee – not because you use a specific basket.
What goes with it
The basket looks best in a bottomless portafilter. To level the puck: the tamper collection – affordable with Normcore, premium with Weber Workshops. Against clumps beforehand: WDT Tools. Plus the matching grinder. All other baskets: Precision Baskets Collection.
Frequently asked questions
Baristapro or Baristapro Nanotech – what's the difference?
The Nanotech variant also has a nanoquartz coating: this makes the shot noticeably faster, and you'll need to grind finer and re-dial in. This Baristapro is the electropolished standard variant without coating – with classic, familiar flow.
20 g or 18 g – which one should I choose?
20 g (basket height 26 mm) is an updosed dose for more body; 18 g (24 mm) is the common starting point, 22 g (28 mm) for even denser extractions, 15 g (22 mm) for leaner ones.
Does the basket fit my machine?
It's made for 58 mm portafilters (rim Ø 70 mm) and fits many E61 brew groups – including La Marzocco, Rocket, ECM, Bezzera, Rancilio, Faema, Fiorenzato, Nuova Simonelli, Wega. If in doubt, tell us your machine model.
What does "ridgeless" mean?
The basket does not have a circumferential retaining ridge and is held by the spring or the portafilter. It sits securely in most 58 mm portafilters.
Can I see the basket before buying?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b).
Roastery Tip
A higher dose and an even basket particularly reward dense, aromatic beans. From our coffee roastery, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight extract with body and roundness. If you're looking for maximum body without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; if you like fruity, discover a lively peach note with Wild Peach. Our recommendation – one of many.
