The nut that holds the LEVA safety thermostat in place
A safety thermostat is only as good as its contact with the component it monitors. That is exactly what this nut is for: it clamps the LEVA 130 °C thermostat firmly against its seat so that it really senses the temperature and doesn’t hang next to it with half a millimetre of air in between. A small part whose job you only understand once it is missing or stripped.
It often becomes noticeable after a service: the nut spins freely, the thermostat is loose, can be moved with a finger or hangs by its cable. Sometimes the nut is also distorted because too much torque was used during the last installation. Then it needs replacing – retightening no longer helps with a stripped thread.
When it’s due
The thermostat wobbles or can be turned by hand. The nut no longer grips, the thread is worn smooth. It can’t be found when reassembling after a gasket change. Or it is visibly tarnished and deformed from working in the heat for years.

Important for installation
The part sits inside the machine in the immediate vicinity of the electrics. We deliberately don’t give step-by-step instructions here: work on the safety thermostat belongs in the hands of a qualified technician who disconnects the machine from the power supply, checks the contact afterwards and tightens the nut with feel rather than force. A safety thermostat is never bypassed or «made to fit» with shims. If you are unsure, have the installation done – by us or by your service partner.
Who it’s for
For workshops and technicians who service a LEVA and order the small parts at the same time. And for businesses that keep a spare parts stock: nuts like these are cheap, but if one is missing, the machine is out of action all the same. If you need the thermostat itself, our online shop is not the right place – we don’t sell electrical components through the shop, but we can source them on request.
What goes with it
All other parts for the lever machine can be found in the category La Marzocco LEVA spare parts. Often taken along during a service are the O-rings for the LEVA in six sizes and the O-ring for the backflush screw. An overview of all our small parts can be found in the category Original spare parts.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: For every LEVA that comes in for a service, we place the removed small parts in a shallow tray and photograph them before anything is cleaned. When reassembling, you can then see immediately which nut goes where and whether one is missing. This is our own routine and not a manufacturer requirement, but it has saved us a second disassembly more than once. We pull the test shots afterwards with Very Nutty, because its crema shows very clearly whether the lever runs evenly. If you prefer to taste something sweeter, take Nutty Delight – everything else under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we’ll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Is the thermostat included?
No. Only the nut with part number F.3.070 is supplied. We don’t sell the safety thermostat itself online, but we can source it on request.
Is this the cone for the thermostat?
No, that is a different position. The cone is a separate part. Check the service documentation to see whether it lists F.3.070, or write to us – we’ll compare the numbers.
Does it fit other La Marzocco machines?
Our documentation lists the LEVA. We make no claims about other models. Send us your machine’s serial number and we’ll check the fit.
How tight should it be?
Hand-tight and then checked. Too much torque strips the thread, too little makes the contact unreliable. That is one of the reasons why we leave this work to a qualified technician.
Can I see the part at your place?
Yes. Come to our showroom in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 or in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring the old part with you and we’ll compare it directly.
Unsure about the number? Write to us at [email protected]. We deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2-4 working days.
