La Marzocco Precision Filter Basket 21 g – Original Portafilter Basket
A full puck for more body: twenty-one grams in the original La Marzocco basket, and in the bottomless portafilter, the espresso flows rich and evenly. Density, sweetness, a long finish.
Nobody needs a precision basket for good espresso – the original basket does its job. You want it because the cup becomes denser, rounder, and clearer. This is one of many possible choices, and we respect both directions.
What makes this basket special
It's an original La Marzocco basket from Florence, manufactured with a hole analysis certificate (roughly comparable to VST): The holes are measured and checked for uniformity, so that the water is distributed evenly throughout the puck – the basis for a clean, round extraction. Especially with a high dose like 21 g, this uniformity is crucial. On the saturated group head of your La Marzocco, which maintains temperature particularly stably, it pays off twice over. Espresso is extraction by weight ratio, usually 1:2; taste and smell are inseparable, a large part of which occurs retronasally. It is our observation that the choice of basket fundamentally changes the aroma profile.

Who it's for
For La Marzocco owners who dose high and want maximum body – every budget is welcome. Those who dose more moderately can find the original basket in 14 and 17 g; for single shots, there's the 7 g single basket. You belong here because you love coffee – not because you use a specific basket.
What goes with it
For bottomless shots: La Marzocco portafilters in our portafilter collection. For the machine: La Marzocco. To make the puck level: the tamper collection – affordable with Normcore, premium with Weber Workshops. To prevent clumps before: WDT Tools. All other baskets: precision basket collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a hole analysis certificate mean?
The holes of the basket are measured and checked for uniformity. This ensures even water distribution during extraction – comparable to VST's approach.
Why does it say "Strada" or "X" on the basket?
The imprint varies depending on the production cycle. The product is identical.
Does the basket fit my portafilter?
Yes, it is compatible with all La Marzocco portafilters.
Can I see the basket before buying?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b).
Roastery Tip
A higher dose and a uniform basket particularly reward dense, aromatic beans. From our coffee roastery, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight brew with rich body and roundness. Those looking for maximum body without any acidity can stick with Very Nutty; those who like it fruity will discover a vibrant peach note with Wild Peach. Our recommendation – one of many.
