La Marzocco Strada S 3-Group – Espresso Machine with Exposed Group Heads
Three portafilters click into place almost in the same breath, three shots run in parallel, and above the low front, eye contact with the counter never breaks. The Strada S is built with and for baristas: flat design, open group heads, no barrier between hand and guest. In the 3-group version, it keeps pace with a high-throughput business.
At Coffee Coaching Club, we are both a partner of La Marzocco and a coffee roastery – we support with configuration, installation, training, and service.
What makes the Strada S special
The exposed group heads make the barista's work easier to follow and the extraction visible – everyone at the counter sees what's happening with the coffee. Underneath, La Marzocco's independent, saturated brew groups work with their own PID control per group: each group holds its temperature steady throughout the day, independent of the other two – the basis for consistent extraction under continuous load. In our observation, a saturated brew group delivers a calmer, more refined aromatic picture than an E61 group – that's our experience from the showroom, not the only valid one. The low profile and slim design fit naturally into open counters.

Installation and Service
The machine is produced upon order and comes from the factory without a plug. For professional commissioning, we recommend the installation package and the limescale protection filter installation – both are automatically added to your cart as soon as you add the machine. With every new coffee machine from CHF 1'500, a private barista introduction course of around 60 minutes is included – in Bern, Zurich or online, for up to two people from the same household or company attending together. The course must take place within one month of delivery; after that, the entitlement expires. Get in touch with us for the course and we'll find a date together. You can book a workshop for your whole café team as an add-on. We'll work out the configuration details with you individually.
Who the 3-group version is for
The 3-group Strada S is about 20 cm wider and just under 17 kg heavier than the 2-group version (103 instead of 83 cm in width, 94 instead of 77 kg) – room for a larger steam boiler (11.8 instead of 8.2 litres) and a third group working in parallel. For businesses with consistently high guest volume, where two baristas stand at the counter at once, that's the difference between a queue and a flow. For smaller cafés with a calmer rhythm, the 2-group Strada S is often enough – also a legitimate choice, our recommendation is one of many.
What goes with it
You can find the right grinder for café operations in the Mahlkönig range, and cleaning products under Machine and Grinder Cleaning. More La Marzocco in the La Marzocco Collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
What sets the Strada S apart?
Its low profile and exposed group heads. This removes the barrier between barista and guest and makes the extraction visible.
What kind of business is the Strada S 3-group suited to?
For cafés with an open counter concept and high throughput. Three groups allow for parallel work at the counter.
What's the difference between the 3-group and the 2-group Strada S?
The 3-group version is about 20 cm wider (103 instead of 83 cm) and 17 kg heavier (94 instead of 77 kg), with a larger steam boiler (11.8 instead of 8.2 litres) for the higher throughput of three groups working in parallel.
Is installation included?
The machine comes without a plug. The installation package and limescale protection filter are recommended and automatically added to your cart.
Can I see the product before I buy it?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the machine you have in mind is currently on display.
Roastery tip
Three groups in continuous operation call for consistency – in water, grind, and bean. As a roastery, we supply cafés with freshly roasted beans and tune a profile to your business, from chocolatey and round like our Cozy Chocolate to nutty for milk-based drinks. Talk to us. This is our recommendation, one of many.
