Cupplement b.v. – Matcha Whisk Bamboo

Matcha is not steeped but whisked. That is what the chasen is for, a whisk made of bamboo. With it you disperse the powder in the water and whisk up a fine layer of foam.

This chasen comes from GOYU, formerly known as Cupplement. The manufacturer specifies 100 % natural bamboo, and the handle carries the Cupplement logo. Matcha powder is not included.

How do I use the chasen?

The Kyoto tea house Ippodo recommends soaking the tips briefly in water before use. Whisk in an M-shaped zigzag motion back and forth; after about 15 seconds the matcha is ready.

How do I clean and store the chasen?

GOYU recommends rinsing the chasen with lukewarm water right after use and letting it air-dry on a stand so it keeps its shape. Ippodo advises against storing it damp in its packaging, because mould can form there.

Is matcha powder included?

No. The article is the chasen alone.

How quickly is it delivered?

Tip from the roastery: If you drink coffee as well as matcha: from our coffee roastery in Zurich, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight show their chocolatey, nutty side in the filter. For espresso with lots of body we use Very Nutty. That is our recommendation, one of many.
