MHW-3BOMBER Leveler/Distributor 51 mm – height-adjustable for 51 mm portafilters
You set the height once to match your dose, place the tool on the portafilter, and turn – the angled surfaces underneath gently push the grounds into an even layer. What were hills and valleys a moment ago now lies flat, ready for a clean tamp.
An adjustable distributor and leveler for compact 51 mm machines.
What the leveler does
During the shot, water seeks the path of least resistance through the puck. If the grounds sit unevenly, water flows faster where they're looser – extraction becomes uneven. The leveler evens out the surface before you tamp: its angled base surfaces gently push the grounds sideways and level as you turn.
You adjust the height on the tool itself to match the amount of grounds in your 51 mm basket. One simple motion: place it, turn it, tamp. Espresso is a craft, not a law – an even bed just makes it more repeatable. Our opinion is one of many.

Who it's for
For anyone with a 51 mm machine like DeLonghi, Smeg, or La Pavoni who wants to distribute their grounds evenly before tamping. The adjustable height adapts the tool to different doses.
What to pair it with
You'll find tampers, WDT tools, and Puck Screens affordably priced in our Normcore Collection and beautifully crafted in our Weber Workshops Collection; more tools are in our Tamper Collection.
And because an even bed only truly matters with the right machine, it's worth a look at our espresso machines – supported by our advisory tool.
Frequently asked questions
How is a leveler different from a WDT tool?
The leveler smooths the surface with angled surfaces; the WDT tool breaks up clumps deep in the grounds with fine needles. Many people use both, one after the other.
How do I adjust the height?
You adjust the height on the tool to match your dose – so the base dips in just deep enough for the surface to become even, without compacting it too much.
Does the leveler fit my 51 mm machine?
It's made for common 51 mm portafilters. If in doubt, check the inside diameter of your filter basket.
Can I see the tool in person before buying?
Very welcome. You can experience it live in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Online, we deliver in 2–4 business days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
A tip from our roastery
An even distribution really shows in rich, sweet roasts. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight taste round and are forgiving. For maximum body without any acidity, the Very Nutty, and for a fruity experience, the Wild Peach. That's our recommendation – one of many.
