Profitec Pro 800 – Lever Machine with Dipper System and PID
Buy the Profitec Pro 800 in Switzerland: a manual lever espresso machine with a massive brew group, copper boiler and PID. Available from us in Bern and Zurich.
You press the lever down, hot water fills the piston of the brew group and pre-infusion begins. Then you release the lever, it slowly returns to its starting position, and the espresso flows. According to Profitec, the handles of the lever, tilt valves and portafilters are handcrafted from American walnut.
The Pro 800 works with a dipper system (single boiler) and a copper boiler of around 3.5 liters. Coffee Coaching Club is a partner of Profitec in Switzerland. The manufacturer is Profitec GmbH in Bammental near Heidelberg.
Features of the Profitec Pro 800
Massive Lever Brew Group
The brew group weighs around 7.8 kg. Profitec names the pre-infusion delivered through the brew group and the distinctive pressure curve as the core of the machine. The longer you hold the lever down, the more hot water flows into the piston.
Walnut and Tilt Valves
You draw steam and hot water via tilt valves. Their handles, the handle of the lever and the handles of the portafilters are made of American walnut.
Pine-Green Manometer, Concealed PID Display
The large pine-green boiler pressure manometer is part of the classic design. The PID display sits behind the drip tray. There you set the boiler temperature and choose whether it shows °C or °F.
The Details in Everyday Use
Water Tank or Direct Water Connection
The Pro 800 can be switched from water tank (approx. 2.8 L) to direct water connection, and connection to a water drain is possible. The vibration pump only fills the boiler in tank operation; with direct water connection it is deactivated. For this, Profitec requires a line pressure of 2 to 3 bar and installation by a qualified technician.
ECO Mode
The machine switches itself off after an adjustable period without use. The factory setting is 90 minutes, programmable from 0 to 600 minutes in 30-minute steps.
Heating Up
According to the user manual, heating up takes around 40 minutes depending on room temperature. It is ready for use at a boiler pressure of approx. 1.0 to 1.25 bar. Leave the portafilter in the brew group during this time so that it is preheated.
Brewing and Safety
A shot cannot be interrupted. Only remove the portafilter once the lever is back in the neutral position. Profitec recommends a 58 mm tamper.
Care
You clean the portafilters, baskets, tank and drip tray daily with warm water. You clean the brew group only when cold, with a brush and a damp cloth. Profitec states explicitly: never with a blind basket, so no backflushing as with pump machines. For the water, Profitec recommends a maximum of 4 °dH.

Who the Pro 800 Is Made For
For everyone who wants to guide the shot by hand and accepts the waiting time while it heats up. Single boiler does not mean espresso only here: steam and hot water are available via the tilt valves. According to Profitec, the machine is intended for household use, not for commercial use.
Saturated group, E61 or lever: our coffee machine advice tool shows which design suits you. We explain the differences between heating systems in the Deep Dive single boiler, heat exchanger, dual boiler. You can find more machines in the Profitec Collection.
A free consultation appointment narrows down the choice. In the comparison workshop in the showroom you test machines and grinders side by side in a reserved hour. Both are an option, not a requirement. You can find the conditions for the introductory course with a machine purchase further down on this page. Financing available.
What Goes With It
For everyone who wants a grinder that is affordable and precise: the VS3 from the Varia Collection, a hand grinder from Comandante or Timemore. If you want more: the VS6 from Varia, the EG-1 from Weber Workshops or a Lagom from Option-O.
For a 58 mm tamper that is affordable and precise: the Spring-Loaded Tamper from the Normcore Collection. If you want more: the tamper from Weber Workshops. The same principle applies to scales: compact and precise from Normcore, with app and flow rate display from the Acaia Collection.
