The supply line between water pipe and machine
If you plumb your Rocket in instead of filling the tank, you are relying on a single component: the inlet hose. It sits behind or under the machine, is never touched again after installation and is permanently under mains pressure – at night, during holidays, even when the machine is off.
A braided hose gets its name from the metal braiding that surrounds the inner hose and supports it against pressure and mechanical stress. That makes it much more robust than a bare plastic hose, but not immortal: the sealing surfaces at the fittings age, and a hose that has once been sharply bent or overstretched remains a risk. According to the item name, this one measures 1.6 metres and has a 1/8-inch connection.
When it's due
Moisture, a limescale ring or a drop that always sits in the same spot appears at a fitting. The metal braiding has burst open, is kinked or rusty. The hose was sharply kinked when the machine was moved. The fitting can no longer be tightened to seal without using force. Or the hose is too short after a move and lies under tension – that too is a reason for a new one.

Important for installation
The hose carries mains pressure. Before any work, the angle valve is closed and the line depressurised, and the machine is disconnected from the power supply. The hose is never tensioned, kinked or laid around a sharp edge, and it is not misused as strain relief for the machine. The fittings are started by hand and only then tightened with the spanner – a cross-threaded fitting will never seal again. After installation, the connection stays under pressure and under observation for at least a quarter of an hour. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here; work on the drinking water installation belongs in expert hands.
Who it's for
For everyone with a plumbed-in Rocket whose supply line is getting damp or whose braiding is damaged – and for workshops that replace a hose as a precaution during a service after years of use. Whether 1.6 metres is enough for your installation location depends on where the angle valve is. If unsure, write to us how far apart the valve and the machine are.
What goes with it
On the machine sits the swivel plumb-in connection. On the thread side, depending on the setup, you will also need the 3/8 inch to 1/8 inch connector for the braided hose, the elbow for the plumb-in connection, the PVC T-piece and the 1/8 inch reducer.
If you are switching from the tank to plumb-in, you will find the other parts in the original spare parts and in Rocket accessories and spare parts. For care in tank operation there is the descaling pad for the water tank, for the group the descaler for E61 and BZ groups – more in machine and grinder cleaning.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
We never lay a new inlet hose in the same curve as the old one; instead, we turn the machine into its place once and only then look where the hose lies free of tension. And we put a sheet of kitchen paper under the fitting: if you find a spot the next morning, you know more than after ten minutes of staring. That is our routine in Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer's instruction. For the test shot afterwards we use Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, and for maximum body without acidity Very Nutty. More in our coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for your order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
What length and connection does the hose have?
The item name states 1.6 metres and 1/8 inch. Thread type and inner diameter are not specified in our documents; we do not make up any values.
Does it fit my Rocket?
It is intended for Rocket machines with direct plumb-in. Our documents do not include a list of series. Send us the model and serial number and we will check.
Can I install the hose myself?
We recommend installation by a professional. It is a connection to the drinking water installation that is permanently under pressure – a leaking fitting inside the cabinet can go unnoticed for a long time.
Is there a part number for it?
No. None of our documents gives a part number for this hose, and we will not make one up here.
Can I see the part in your showroom?
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know shortly beforehand and we will have the part ready.
