Alongside it, you see in real time how fast you're pouring and what ratio you're at. You stop guessing and start sensing what your coffee needs.
The Timemore Black Mirror Basic 3 makes visible exactly what decides the cup during pour-over: weight accurate to 0.1 g, pour speed as flow rate in g/s, and the coffee-to-water ratio, which the scale automatically calculates for you.
In pour-over, pour speed determines how long the water stays in contact with the coffee – and with it, the extraction. Pour very fast, and the water runs through before it can pick up the sweet, soluble compounds; the cup stays thin. Pour very slowly, and the water sits in the bed longer, dissolving increasingly bitter compounds. There's no rigid right or wrong here – what matters is that the cup tastes good to you. The flow rate display puts that feel in your hands, and the ratio calculator shows you at any moment whether you're at 1:15 or 1:16. That makes your recipe reproducible, without any mental math. That's our view, one of many.
A physical switch toggles between pour-over, manual, and espresso. Pour-over mode combines the ratio calculator, flow rate display, and auto timer for V60, Chemex, Kalita Wave, and other drippers. Manual mode weighs classically with a timer and ratio display – for French press, AeroPress, or cupping. Espresso mode brings auto timer, auto tare, and real-time flow rate for anyone who wants to weigh a shot too.

For anyone who likes to pour their filter coffee evenly and enjoys watching their own pour unfold. No setup is too simple or too big for it. The Basic 3 pairs with any hand grinder and any dripper – find the right grinder in our Timemore Coffee Grinders and the wide selection of Coffee Grinders. More precision scales are in our Scales Collection, and the beans to go with it are in our Coffee Beans.
The Basic 3 automatically calculates the coffee-to-water ratio, has a physical mode switch, detects weights from 0.2 g instead of 0.5 g, is about 35% flatter, and is better shielded against electromagnetic interference. Both have the flow rate display.
For pour-over with V60, Chemex, or Kalita Wave, as well as French press, AeroPress, and cupping. The espresso mode also lets you weigh a shot.

Filter coffee thrives on clarity and sweetness. If you like to stay rich-bodied and chocolatey, you're in good hands with Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight . For a lively, fruity experience in the V60, it's worth trying Wild Peach with its peach note. That's our recommendation, one of many.
