La Pavoni Casa Bar – compact portafilter machine with a clear signature
The portafilter clicks into place, the ULKA pump hums quietly to life, and as the crema flows into the cup, you keep an eye on pump pressure on the manometer. The La Pavoni Casa Bar brings genuine portafilter craft to your counter in compact form – with a 54 mm portafilter, a steam wand for fine-pored milk foam, and a housing that fits into almost any kitchen in black or chrome.
Inside works a single boiler with a 0.22 L brass boiler and a chrome-plated brass brew unit – brass holds heat well and helps keep the brew temperature stable, which has a direct effect on sweetness and aroma in the espresso. As a single boiler, the Casa Bar typically takes around 15 minutes to heat up, and then you're ready for espresso and, via the steam wand, for cappuccino or latte. How you pull your shot is entirely up to you – there are no espresso laws, what counts is that it tastes good to you. That's our view, one of many.
