Superkop is a manual lever espresso brewer from the Netherlands that works completely without electricity. What makes it special is its mechanism: a 1:40 displacement system allows you to gradually build up pressure in five to six light lever pulls – about 8 to 9 bar, as needed for espresso. A ratchet mechanism holds the pressure between pulls, and a gas spring returns the piston. This makes the extraction easy and consistent, without relying on brute force.
The portafilter measures 58mm and accommodates standard baskets; the transparent water chamber withstands heat and pressure without needing preheating. For a double espresso, about 18g of coffee, approximately 60ml of water at around 95°C, and 25 to 30 seconds are a good starting point. The Superkop is designed for longevity, can be opened and repaired by yourself, and doesn't require descaling or backflushing – after extraction, remove the puck, rinse the portafilter and water chamber, and you're done.
Coffee Coaching Club carries the Superkop and its matching accessories. Two extensions are particularly popular: the wall mount and the bottomless portafilter.
Wall mount
The wall mount turns the stand-alone version into a wall-mounted version – practical if you want to keep your counter free. It is offered separately and comes with screws, dowels, and a drilling template, making installation straightforward. Available in black, white, and other colours.
Bottomless portafilter
The bottomless portafilter gives you a clear view of the extraction: You can see how evenly the coffee grounds are extracted and immediately spot channeling or uneven tamping. Compared to the closed standard portafilter, it gives you more feedback – helpful for fine-tuning your extractions.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Superkop work?
A 1:40 displacement system builds up pressure in five to six light lever pulls – about 8 to 9 bar. A ratchet mechanism holds the pressure between pulls, and a gas spring returns the piston. All without electricity, with a 58mm portafilter.
Does the Superkop require a lot of force?
No. The pressure builds up gradually over several light pulls, rather than in a single forceful movement. This ensures a consistent extraction even without great hand strength.
Is the wall mount worth it?
If you want to keep your counter free, yes. The wall mount is offered separately and comes with screws, dowels, and a drilling template for easy installation.
Bottomless or standard portafilter?
The bottomless one provides a clear view of the extraction and makes channeling or uneven tamping visible – good for fine-tuning. The standard portafilter is sufficient for classic extractions. Both use 58mm standard baskets.
How do I clean the Superkop?
After brewing, remove the puck and rinse the portafilter and water chamber. Descaling or backflushing is not necessary, and the machine can be opened and repaired by yourself if needed.
Can I see the Superkop before buying?
