Apax Lab Lylac – When your coffee becomes poetry
Imagine: You're drinking your coffee. But it smells like a spring meadow. It's light, lively, elegant. It has a finish that lingers forever – jasmine, bergamot, Earl Grey, all clearly defined, subtle, perfect.
This is not magic. This is Lylac .
Lylac is the profile for discerning palates. For those who don't want "loud," but "refined." It was developed to highlight the most subtle aromas—the aromas that other profiles mask or overlook. It doesn't make the coffee "louder," but more precise. More elegant. More unforgettable.
If you love complex Ethiopian coffees—if you drink Geishas, Kenyan, or experimental fermentations—then Lylac is your tool. It's the water that world barista champions use when they want to impress the judges with subtlety.
The chemist's perspective: The sulfate compound
As aroma specialists, we know: Floral notes are fleeting. They are subtle, delicate, easy to overlook – or mask.
Lylac uses a special balance with magnesium sulfate . Sulfates have the unique chemical property of making floral aromas appear "drier" and more defined – they highlight the "high notes" in the flavor spectrum without making them harsh or aggressive.
This creates a very clean, silky mouthfeel. The jasmine note lingers in the cup. The bergamot dances on the tongue. The finish is endless – clear, defined, elegant.
The result: coffee that feels like poetry. Not for everyone – but for those who appreciate subtlety, it's perfection.
Your morning ritual with Lylac
Lylac isn't for everyday use. It's for special moments. Imagine:
- Prepare distilled water: Pour 1 liter into a carafe.
- Dosage of Lylac: 6-8 drops per liter (see instructions for exact recipes).
- Stir: Briefly swirl, done.
- Brewing methods: V60, Chemex, AeroPress – Lylac shines with pour-over.
You drink. And you realize: This is different. The Wild Peach you know is suddenly more elegant. The floral notes – jasmine, bergamot – are no longer just a hint. They are clear, defined, present. The finish lingers forever. That is elegance. That is what Lylac does.
Alternatively , you can add Lylac after extraction - try it out and decide what you prefer.
Perfectly combined
Lylac is a dream for geishas or very refined Ethiopians. Try it with a V60 pour-over and our Wild Peach . The floral notes—peach—become so clear you'll think we've infused blossoms. The finish is endless. That's elegance. That's why you want Lylac.
Who is Lylac right for?
You don't need Lylac. Most people never need it.
But treat yourself to Lylac if:
You love complex coffees . Ethiopian naturals, Kenyan experimental fermentations, Geishas. Coffees that are more than "good." Coffees that tell a story. Lylac makes that story shine.
You drink pour-over . V60, Chemex, Kalita – Lylac is built for these methods. The clarity, the elegance, the subtlety – it all comes through.
You appreciate subtlety . You don't want "loud," but "refined." You want to taste the jasmine note, not just the chocolate. You see coffee as art, not fuel.
Or maybe you simply want it because you're curious. Because you want to understand what world barista champions know. Because Lylac is the profile that leaves the judges speechless.
That's reason enough.

Frequently asked questions about Lylac
Is Lylac suitable for dark roasts?
Probably not. Lylac emphasizes floral and fruity notes – perfect for light roasts, but it can make dark roasts sound thin or empty. For our Nutty Delight, we recommend Jamm instead of Lylac.
Does Lylac also work for espresso?
Yes, but: Lylac shines with pour-over. With espresso, the effect is more subtle. If you want elegance in your espresso – try Lylac. But don't expect a dramatic transformation like with Jam .
Can I mix Lylac with other profiles?
Yes! 60% tonic + 40% lylac gives you clarity AND elegance. This is perfect for complex Ethiopian coffees. Experiment.
