Olympia Express Mina – Mobile Espresso Machine, Made in Switzerland
You're on the beach in Sardinia, by the lake in Klöntal, at the end of a hike in northern Finland. You have hot water. You have freshly ground coffee. You have the Mina. You fill it, you lift the lever, the integrated valve allows water to hit the puck. You press down, the valve closes, pressure builds up, and on the manometer, you see what you're doing. An espresso flows from the naked portafilter into your cup – with crema, with aroma, without electricity, without a pump, without a battery.
The Mina is the mobile sister of the Cremina. Designed in Switzerland, made in Switzerland, built for the world. Aluminum, stainless steel, brass. Plastics only where necessary. A machine that comes along everywhere with Olympia Express' sustainable travel case – and delivers the espresso there that convinces you at home in the morning.
What makes the Mina special
Lever mechanism with integrated valve – Pre-infusion on the go
The Mina works with a newly developed piston system. Fill with hot water and coffee powder, lift the lever, the integrated valve allows the water to hit the coffee puck. As soon as the lever is pressed down, the valve closes and pressure builds up. A specially designed construction in the brewing chamber ensures temperature stability and minimizes temperature loss. The pressure gauge on the brew head shows you what's happening – anytime, anywhere.
Swiss materials, built for the world
Like its big sister, the Cremina, the Mina is made of aluminum, stainless steel, and brass. The lever guide and fork are made of electropolished stainless steel, the brew head is anodized with a surface hardness close to ceramic. Wear parts are clearly planned and very easy to replace. This is the Olympia philosophy even on the go: built to last an eternity.
Travel case with accessory compartment
Part of the Mina vision is the sustainable transport case in a practical format. With an integrated accessory compartment, it offers enough space for a small grinder or your favorite coffee. The Mina itself measures a compact 17 × 24 × 30 cm and weighs 2.5 kg. The case with the Mina measures 31 × 30 × 10 cm and weighs 3.1 kg total. Available in black, silver, green, and red.

Who the Mina is made for
The Mina is for anyone who doesn't want to leave their espresso at home. In the car, in the camper, in the backpack, in the office, in the studio, on the boat. It's not a replacement for your home machine – it's the companion that brings you the quality on your travels that you usually only have in your kitchen. For anyone who's had enough of capsule solutions on the go. For anyone who knows that good espresso starts with good beans, a good grinder, and good mechanics – and that this applies just as much on the road as it does at home.
Accessories that fit the Mina
A mobile machine demands a mobile grinder. We recommend hand grinders because they are battery-free and thus fit the Mina philosophy. Affordable and precise: the Timemore hand series. At a premium level: the Comandante C40 MK4 or the 1Zpresso series. Both options provide the grind range that the Mina extracts cleanly.
For a mobile scale, choose the compact Normcore Mini Scale. If you want a Bluetooth app and flow rate display on the go, check out the Acaia Pico or Lunar. For filter coffee as a backup on your travels, we recommend the Aeropress or a Hario V60 dripper. Bean recommendations from our coffee roastery: Coffee Coaching Club Beans.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Olympia Express Mina
How does the Mina work without electricity?
The Mina is a pure lever machine. You only need hot water (for example, from a kettle or at a campfire) and freshly ground coffee. Add water and powder to the brewing chamber, lift the lever, the integrated valve opens and allows the water to hit the puck. Press the lever down, the valve closes, pressure builds up, espresso flows. No battery, no accumulator, no pump.
Which bean and grind size work with the Mina?
Espresso grind, like any lever machine. From our coffee roastery, we recommend the Nutty Delight or the Cozy Chocolate for on the go – both robust enough to perform reliably even after a hike. For maximum body without acidity, the Very Nutty. A good hand grinder is crucial for a consistent grind.
Where is the Mina built?
In Schwanden, in the canton of Glarus, by Schätti AG Metallwarenfabrik. Olympia Express produces the Mina with the same manufacturing philosophy as the Cremina family: handmade, in-house workshop, components designed for longevity. Wear parts are clearly identified and replaceable – even on the go.
Where can I buy or see the Mina live?
Online via coffeecoachingclub.ch with delivery in 2–4 business days to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Discover in person at our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44, 3011 Bern) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b, 8050 Zurich). Click and Collect available at both locations.
Who services the Mina in case of damage?
Service and repairs are handled by Olympia Express in Schwanden or by authorized Swiss service partners. The Mina is designed so that wear parts are easily replaceable – a core Olympia principle.
Does the travel case come with the Mina?
The sustainable transport case with accessory compartment is part of Olympia Express's Mina vision. As configurations can vary, it's best to check the exact scope of delivery directly on the product image or contact us at office@coffeecoachingclub.ch.
Roastery Tip from our Coffee Roastery
The Mina is one of those machines that teaches us: espresso isn't confined to the kitchen. We enjoy taking it with us when we travel, in the camper, to the sea. Our observation: With a good hand grinder like the Comandante and a medium roast like the Cozy Chocolate, the Mina delivers an espresso that's surprisingly close to what you have at home. It doesn't replace your Cremina – it complements it. Espresso is complex, but it's not rocket science. Not even on the beach.
