Rocket fine filter for the brew group – the small screen in front of the gicleur
A tiny screen sits in the water path to the brew group. Its job is simple and important at the same time: it catches particles before they get into the narrow bore of the gicleur. A gicleur with a diameter of six or eight tenths of a millimetre cannot cope with a single flake of limescale – the fine filter is what protects it.
If the screen itself clogs, things tip the other way: too little water reaches the group, the shot runs sluggishly, the pressure gauge reads higher than usual, and the espresso turns bitter because the water stays in contact with the ground coffee for too long. This item carries the number R619905546 and replaces the former C619900554.
Descale first, then replace
Before you order a new screen: in nine out of ten cases the part is not faulty, just clogged. Thorough descaling and a backflush often solve the problem completely and cost a fraction of the price. You'll find suitable products under Machine and grinder cleaning, such as the Descaler for E61 and BZ groups and the Puly Caff Plus cleaning powder. If the flow is still weak afterwards or the screen mesh is visibly damaged, it's time for a replacement.
When it's due
The shot runs noticeably slower than before, even though grind size and dose have stayed the same. The pressure gauge reads higher than usual. The flow remains weak after descaling. The screen mesh is torn, dented or can no longer be rinsed clean. Or the filter got bent during removal – then refitting it isn't worth it.

Important for installation
The filter sits inside the machine in a line that carries water under pressure at over 90 degrees Celsius. Before opening, the machine must be disconnected from the mains, depressurised and cooled down, and the replacement belongs in the hands of a qualified technician. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here. A tip from practice: the filter has a flow direction. Anyone who fits it the wrong way round will later be puzzled by the same effect as before.
Who it's for
For service workshops overhauling a Rocket group, and for anyone whose flow hasn't come back after descaling. Also as an inexpensive spare to keep in stock if the machine runs on hard water.
What goes with it
Directly behind it sits the group's 0.8 millimetre gicleur – if you remove the fine filter, it makes sense to check it at the same time. In the same group you'll find the flange gasket, the 8 mm group gasket and the brew group diffuser. For an overview, see Rocket accessories and spare parts; all original spare parts are listed under Original spare parts.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich: We hold a removed fine filter up to the light before we think about replacing it. If you can see through the mesh, it can usually still be saved; if you see a grey surface, it's blocked. And we never clear it with a needle – that stretches the mesh unevenly and the filter then filters worse than before. That's our experience from behind the counter, not a manufacturer specification. For dialling in afterwards: Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or the full-bodied Very Nutty, more under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been fitted or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll check the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Can I clean the fine filter instead of replacing it?
Yes, and that's always the first thing to try. Descale, rinse, hold it up to the light. Only if the flow remains weak afterwards or the mesh is damaged is a replacement worthwhile.
What does “formerly C619900554” mean?
Rocket has changed the number. R619905546 is the current designation of the same item. If your older documentation says C619900554, you're in the right place.
What is the mesh size of the screen?
We have no documentation on the mesh size, diameter or material for this number. That's why we don't give any figures we can't back up.
Is a gasket included?
The scope of delivery follows the manufacturer's specification for number R619905546. We don't have a parts list. Assume that a sealing ring has to be ordered separately.
Can I see the part in one of your showrooms?
Yes. We're in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know shortly beforehand and we'll have the part ready for you.
