Robusta from Vietnam
Vietnam is one of the most important growing countries for Robusta. Robusta naturally brings more body, a more stable crema and less acidity than Arabica – exactly the qualities Creamy Chestnut is built on.
The chestnut note develops during roasting: in the Maillard reaction, sugars and protein building blocks react to form nutty, roasty aroma compounds. You perceive a large part of them not on the tongue but retronasally – as you swallow, the aromas rise through the throat to the nose.

How Creamy Chestnut tastes in the cup
As an espresso, it turns dense and creamy, with chestnut up front and a nutty finish. We extract by weight: we grind fine, start at 14.5 grams and work our way up from there, usually to 17 grams, at a ratio below 1:2.
In a cappuccino or flat white, its body carries through the milk and the chestnut note stays recognisable. Brewed a little warmer, it shows more body; a little cooler, more aroma. There's no right or wrong here – the coffee has to taste good to you. Because the bean, the humidity and you yourself change every day, no cup is ever exactly like the last.
Who Creamy Chestnut is made for
For anyone who likes bold, creamy coffee with nutty warmth and little acidity – neat as an espresso, from a super-automatic machine or as the base for milk drinks. No prior experience needed, every coffee path is welcome.
If you like cocoa and dark chocolate in your cup alongside chestnut, you'll find them in Chestnut Delight: there, Vietnamese Robusta is blended half and half with Brazilian natural Arabica.
What you need for it
Freshly ground, the crema comes out best. Among the coffee grinders you'll find affordable and precise options such as the VS3 from Varia; if you want more room to play, have a look at the Varia VS6. For grinding by hand, there's Comandante.
For milk drinks, the barista milk pitchers include affordable, precise jugs from Normcore; if you want more, reach for Weber Workshops or Rhino. A scale helps with the ratio: compact and precise from Normcore, with app and flow display from Acaia. Our advice tool shows which grinder and machine suit your everyday routine.

As espresso we grind fine and work our way up from 14.5 grams, usually to 17 grams; in milk it carries through effortlessly. For the large majority, we also recommend Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight, for maximum body without acidity Very Nutty – and anyone in the mood for something fruity will discover Wild Peach.
