It sits under the cup and measures what actually comes out: output weight and extraction time. If the shot is outside your recipe, the Sync Scale signals the compatible Mahlkönig grinder to automatically adjust the grind for the next shot.

How the Sync Scale works

The Sync Scale is the measuring element in the Grind-by-Sync system. It records the actual result – weight and time – for each shot and compares it with your stored recipe. If the shot deviates, the system signals the grinder: finer or coarser. The grinder corrects the grind itself, so that the next shot is closer to the target again. Because the scale measures what ends up in the cup, the principle works independently of the espresso machine – crucial is a compatible Mahlkönig grinder with motorized grind adjustment.

Compatibility

Automatic grind adjustment via the Sync Scale works with Mahlkönig grinders that feature Grind-by-Sync and motorized adjustment: E64 WS, E65W GBS and E80W GBS. Setup and pairing are done via the Mahlkönig Sync App.
