As aroma specialists, we understand that fruitiness isn't simply "there". It needs to be extracted, bound, and highlighted.

The tonic formula relies heavily on magnesium and calcium , but deliberately keeps the "buffer" (bicarbonate) lower than in other profiles. Chemically speaking, this allows the fruity organic compounds (esters, organic acids) to fully develop without being immediately neutralized.

The result: An incredibly vibrant, juicy coffee that tingles on the tongue. The acidity isn't aggressive – it's structured, clear, refreshing. Like biting into a ripe fruit. That's the difference magnesium makes.

Your morning ritual with tonic

The application is simple. Imagine:

  1. Prepare distilled water: Pour 1 liter into a carafe.
  2. Dosage of tonic: 6-8 drops per liter (see instructions for exact recipes).
  3. Stir: Briefly swirl, done.

Who is tonic suitable for?

You don't need tonic water. Tap water will do – sort of.

But treat yourself to tonic if:

You love light roasts . If you drink Ethiopian naturals, Kenyan washed coffees, Colombian Geishas. If you're looking for fruitiness, not chocolate. Tonic is built for these coffees – it makes them brilliant.

You drink pour-over . V60, Chemex, Kalita – tonic shines here. The clarity you seek with pour-over is perfectly achieved with tonic.

Your tap water is too hard (high calcium, high buffering capacity). Many Swiss regions have hard water – this masks fruitiness. Tonic gives you back control.

Frequently asked questions about tonics

Does tonic water also work for espresso?

Yes! Tonic works for everything – espresso, pour-over, French press. However, the effect is more subtle with espresso than with filter coffee. Tonic truly shines with pour-over, where the clarity really comes through.

Is tonic too acidic for dark roasts?

Possibly. Tonic emphasizes acidity and fruitiness – that's perfect for light roasts, but can make dark roasts sound "thin". For our Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate, we recommend jam instead of tonic.

Can I mix tonic with other profiles?

Absolutely! 70% tonic + 30% jam gives you clarity AND body. Experiment. This is your laboratory.
