ECM Elektronika Profi Due – two-group heat exchanger with 4-litre copper boiler
Buy the ECM Elektronika Profi Due in Switzerland: a compact two-group machine with heat exchanger, rotary pump and four programmable volumes per group.
Two ECM brew groups, a copper boiler of around 4 litres, toggle valves for steam and hot water and a rounded stainless steel casing. ECM describes the Profi Due as a compact two-group machine for professional use where space is limited. Coffee Coaching Club is a partner of ECM, with showrooms in Bern and Zurich.
Features of the Elektronika Profi Due
Automatic dosing of four cup volumes
Each group has its own control panel with four buttons for programmable volumes and a star button. You save a volume by starting the button on the first shot and pressing it again at the desired volume. The star button also allows manual brewing.
Rounded stainless steel casing
The casing is made of stainless steel with rounded edges. On top there is a large cup tray.
Water tank or plumbed-in
The machine can be switched from the water tank (around 3 litres) to a fixed water connection. A flexible hose for connecting to the water supply is included.
Easy to service
ECM explicitly describes the Profi Due as designed for easy servicing.
Made in Germany
ECM lists the Profi Due as «Made in Germany», and in the commercial catalogue as «Handmade in Germany».
The details in everyday use
Heat exchanger system
Two independent water circuits allow brewing coffee and steaming milk at the same time. According to ECM, the coffee is always prepared with fresh water, and a thermosiphon system keeps the brew groups at temperature with circulating water.
Rotary pump with adjustable pump pressure
The rotary pump is built in, and the pump pressure is adjustable. A boiler pressure gauge and a pump pressure gauge display both values.
ECM brew groups with stainless steel bell
Both ECM brew groups have a stainless steel bell. A portafilter with one spout and one with two spouts are included.
Toggle valves and commercial pressostat
You operate steam and hot water with toggle valves. A commercial pressostat regulates the boiler pressure; in operation the gauge shows around 1.0 to 1.25 bar.
Automatic group cleaning programme
You start the cleaning programme with the blind filter and group cleaner via the star button and button 1. A running light on the control panel shows the sequence.

Who the Profi Due is made for
For offices, small cafés and households where several drinks are often made in a row and two groups should run at the same time. The fixed water connection saves you refilling, and the water tank makes the machine independent of a water line. A heat exchanger is not only for milk drinks: if you mainly drink espresso, it works well for you too.
If you are choosing between a single boiler, a heat exchanger and a dual boiler, our coffee machine advice tool helps you narrow it down. We explain the difference between the heating systems in our deep dive on single boiler, heat exchanger and dual boiler. Our opinion is one of many.
In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can see machines live. In the espresso machine and grinder comparison in the showroom you test several machines side by side, an option, not a requirement. A free consultation appointment is also possible. Not every model is set up at all times, so send your preferred model in advance to [email protected]. You can find more models in the ECM collection and among all espresso machines.
The conditions for the introductory course with a machine purchase can be found further down this page. Financing available. Delivery in 2–4 working days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein, or Click & Collect in Bern and Zurich.
What goes with it
Two groups need a grinder that grinds quickly. For anyone who wants grinders that are affordable and precise: the VS3 from our Varia collection or hand grinders from Comandante and Timemore. If you want more: the VS6 from Varia, the EG-1 from Weber Workshops or the Lagom from Option-O. For continuous operation with a bean hopper, it is worth looking at Eureka and Mahlkönig.
For anyone who wants scales that are affordable and precise: the Normcore collection. If you want an app and flow rate display: Acaia. The same applies to tampers and puck screens: Normcore or Weber Workshops, both in our barista accessories. For backflushing and group cleaning you will find everything under machine and grinder cleaning, and water filters at Brita.
Frequently asked questions
Does the ECM Elektronika Profi Due have one or two brew groups?
Two. Each group has its own control panel with four programmable volumes and manual brewing. A portafilter with one spout and one with two spouts are included.
Can I connect the Profi Due to the water supply?
Yes. It can be switched from the water tank to a fixed water connection, and the flexible hose is included. According to ECM, the mains pressure must be between 0 and 1.5 bar; above that, a pressure reducer is required.
How long does it take to heat up?
ECM states 25 to 30 minutes, the user manual around 25 minutes depending on ambient temperature. The machine is ready when the boiler pressure gauge shows around 1.0 to 1.25 bar.
How do I clean the brew groups?
A backflush without detergent every day, and with detergent roughly every 50 shots. The Profi Due has an automatic group cleaning programme for this, and the blind filter is included.
What power supply is required?
230 V at 2500 W. According to ECM, other voltages are available on request.
Can I see the product before buying?
Yes, by arrangement in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) or Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Not every model is set up at all times, so write to us in advance at [email protected]. For a direct comparison of several machines, there is the comparison workshop in the showroom.
Tip from the roastery: With a heat exchanger, a short flush before the shot helps so that the brewing water does not start too hot. For espresso and milk drinks we recommend Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight, both full-bodied with notes of chocolate and nut. If you are looking for maximum body without acidity, reach for Very Nutty. For the curious: Wild Peach shows the fruity side. Start with a ratio of 1:2 and adjust to taste. That is our recommendation, one of many.
