Weber Workshops Really Nice Tamper – Self-Leveling Tamper for 58, 54, and 49mm
You place the tamper on the puck and press down. The head self-levels horizontally, the spring provides a clear, consistent resistance, and with a quiet click, the puck sits evenly. No matter how you hold your hand – the bed lies flat.
The Weber Workshops Really Nice Tamper is a purely mechanical, self-leveling tamper. No electronics, no app – just a spring and a movable plate that compresses the puck evenly every time. Available in 58, 54, and 49 mm. Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer of Weber Workshops.

What makes the Really Nice Tamper special
A crooked tamp creates uneven density in the puck. The water then preferentially flows through the looser side, and channeling begins before extraction runs properly. The self-leveling head compensates for hand position and levels the puck horizontally.
Plus two thoughtful details: An anti-vacuum design ensures that the tamper lifts cleanly without pulling the puck up. And an open angle between the leveling plate and the base allows coffee grounds to escape by themselves, instead of getting stuck.

Which size fits your machine
58 mm (58.55 mm) for La Marzocco, Rocket, ECM, Profitec, Slayer, E61 and all standard 58mm baskets as well as Weber Unifilter and Unibasket. 54 mm (53.50 mm) for Breville and Sage such as Barista Express, Bambino, and Infuser. 49 mm (49.50 mm) for Olympia Cremina and La Pavoni pre-Millennium.
Spring: 9 or 12 kg
The 9 kg spring is pre-installed and offers a lighter, for most people, pleasant resistance. For those who prefer more counter-pressure, the included 12 kg spring can be inserted – tool-free in seconds. Both are a matter of personal preference, no right or wrong.
What goes with it
For distribution before tamping, use the Moonraker or a Normcore WDT tool. Dosing and redistributing are achieved with the Weber Blind Shaker or Blind Tumbler. If you want to cover a second machine size, keep the handle and just get the Base Kit from the Weber Workshops Collection. More tampers can be found in our tamper selection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which size do I need for my machine?
58 mm for La Marzocco, Rocket, ECM, Profitec, Slayer, E61 and all standard 58mm baskets. 54 mm for Breville and Sage (Barista Express, Bambino, Infuser). 49 mm for Olympia Cremina and La Pavoni pre-Millennium.
Can I change the size later?
Yes. Weber offers Base Kits separately – you keep the handle and spring mechanism and only replace the tamping surface.
What is the difference between the 9 kg and 12 kg spring?
The 9 kg spring (pre-installed) provides lighter resistance, the 12 kg spring more counter-pressure. Both are interchangeable without tools, the choice is a matter of taste.
Does the tamper also fit non-Weber baskets?
Yes. The 58.55mm diameter fits practically every standard 58mm basket, as do the 54mm and 49mm variants for their respective machines.
Does the tamper lift the puck when lifted?
No. The fit is deliberately designed so that no vacuum is created – the tamper lifts cleanly.
How fast is delivery in Switzerland?
2 to 4 working days throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. Click and Collect possible in Bern and Zurich.
Roastery Tip
A level, evenly compressed puck extracts more homogeneously – no side is over or under-extracted. In the cup, this usually manifests as a rounder, clearer aroma. With dense profiles like our Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, the consistency is most noticeable. The tamper makes tamping more reproducible; the rest is still up to you. This is our recommendation, one of many.
