The single basket for a single shot
A single espresso needs its own basket. The filter basket for around 7 grams is shallower than the double basket, so that the smaller amount of coffee still forms a puck of even height across the whole surface. If you put half a dose into a basket for the double amount, you get a thin layer that lets the water slip past at the side.
This basket is also a wear part. Coffee oils and limescale build up in the holes and narrow the flow – first in spots, then unevenly across the whole surface. With the single basket this becomes noticeable sooner than with the double basket, because each clogged hole makes up a larger share of the already small surface.
Descale first, then replace
Cleaning comes before replacement. The removed basket goes into Puly Caff Plus cleaning powder, and with hard water afterwards into descaler for E61 and BZ groups – if it then lets water through evenly again, it was clogged, not worn. Suitable products are in machine and grinder cleaning. It is only replaced if the holes stay blocked even after this treatment or the rim is damaged.
When it's due
The single shot runs faster or slower than usual without any change to grind size or dose. The water comes out on one side. Holes stay dark when held up to the light. The puck sticks mushily in the basket instead of knocking out dry. Or the rim is bent and no longer seals cleanly in the group.

Who it's for
For everyone who regularly pulls single shots – a ristretto in the morning or for a single guest – and whose single basket shows deposits. Also as a second basket, so you don't have to swap over every time you switch between single and double. We are happy to clarify which basket is in your portafilter: send us the model and serial number.
What goes with it
For double shots we carry the 14 g filter basket. Both baskets belong in Rocket portafilters: for the R8 and R9 in the single portafilter for R8 and R9 and the double portafilter for R8 and R9, for the R9 ONE in the single portafilter for the R9 ONE and the double portafilter for the R9 ONE, for the Appartamento TCA in the TCA single portafilter and the TCA double portafilter, plus the two portafilters single portafilter complete and double portafilter complete. Without a bottom, there is the bottomless portafilter with double basket, which already comes with its own double basket.
The portafilter cap sits on the handle. In the brew group behind it are the flange gasket for the brew group, the fine filter for the brew group and the brew group shower screen. Anyone who pulls both single and double shots keeps both baskets ready in our workshop instead of a middle-ground compromise – that saves readjusting the grind size every time. That is our routine in Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer's instruction. For the test shot afterwards we use Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, and for maximum body without acidity Very Nutty. Returns excluded
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for your order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.

Does it fit every Rocket portafilter?
Our documents list it as a filter basket for the Rocket portafilter, without a list of series. Send us the model and serial number of your machine and we will check the fit before you order.
Is there a part number for this basket?
No. Neither our item documents nor the catalogue give a part number for this basket, and we will not make one up here. If you have a number from service documentation, send it to us and we will compare.
Can I also use 14 grams with the single basket?
We advise against it. The basket is designed for the smaller amount, and too high a dose presses the puck against the shower screen. For the double amount there is the basket for around 14 grams.
