Rhino Coffee Brewing Scale – Brewing Scale with Timer (3 kg / 0.1 g)
The kettle falls silent, you set the carafe on the platform, and with the first pour two numbers start running at once: the grams landing in the coffee bed, and the seconds since the first drop, while you pour in steady circles, keeping an eye on both, and what started as a gut feeling becomes a process you can repeat tomorrow.
That's exactly what this scale is built for: weight and time at a glance, so your coffee becomes repeatable.
Why brewing by weight makes the difference
Coffee shows its best side when you work by weight ratio instead of by feel. How much ground coffee, how much water – this ratio decides whether the cup turns out round and sweet or stays thin. The Brewing Scale shows you both in real time, with a resolution of 0.1 grams up to 3 kilograms.
The built-in timer runs alongside the weight. So you see not only how much water is already in the coffee, but also how long the extraction takes – the two values that make a pour repeatable. A practical note: if you lift the carafe during brewing, the timer pauses. So leave the set in place until you're done.
And here's the good part: no two brews are ever the same. The bean, the humidity, and you yourself change daily. The scale doesn't take that variability away – it just gives you the fixed point from which you readjust every day. Our opinion is one of many, but once you've brewed by weight, you rarely want to go back.

Who it's for
For everyone who brews Pour Over, French Press, or Aeropress at home and likes to make their coffee repeatable. The generous 3-kilogram capacity easily carries the full carafe, and the fine 0.1-gram resolution works just as well for pulling espresso. Whether you're just starting to brew by weight or you've been measuring for years – it does what it's meant to, without holding you up with menus.
What to pair it with
A scale only comes into its own with the right grounds. For everyone who wants a grinder that's affordable and precise: the VS3 from our Varia coffee grinders. Those who want more burr and workflow can look at the Varia VS6 or the EG-1 from the Weber Workshops Collection.
For pour-over, a good brewer fits well: affordable and proven with the Hario V60 or Aeropress from our Hario Collection, or, as an experience in its own right, the BIRD from the Weber Workshops Collection. And if you feel like Bluetooth, flow-rate display, and an app when weighing, you'll find that in the Acaia Collection – while the Normcore Collection covers the compact, affordable side. Frequently asked questions
Is the Rhino Brewing Scale also suitable for espresso?
Yes. The 0.1-gram resolution is precise enough for pulling espresso, and at 126 × 126 mm the platform fits under most drip trays. Just pay attention to the clearance under your spouts – for especially low-profile setups, there are dedicated low-height espresso scales.
Does the scale show weight and time at the same time?
Yes, weight and timer run in parallel on the backlit display. If you lift the vessel during brewing, the timer pauses – so leave the carafe in place until the end.
What batteries does it need?
Two AAA batteries, already included, so you can unbox it and get started right away.
Can I see the scale in person before buying?
Very much so. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zürich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can experience it live. Ordering online is just as straightforward – delivery takes 2–4 business days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
A tip from our coffee roastery
If you want to taste the effect of a scale for the first time, use a coffee with clear, round sweetness as your reference. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight are ideal for this: full-bodied, dense, with chocolate and nut notes that show even small changes in ratio right away. Anyone who likes maximum body with no acidity at all reaches for Very Nutty; and for curious palates, there's Wild Peach a fruity experience waiting. That's our recommendation – one of many.
