Hario Ceramic Skerton PLUS – Hand Grinder with Ceramic Conical Burrs
A calm turning motion, the even crunch of the beans, and inside the glass container a homogeneous grind builds up – the Skerton PLUS brings that to your counter by hand, with no power needed.
The Ceramic Skerton PLUS is the improved version of the classic Skerton hand grinder. We carry Hario at Coffee Coaching Club.
What makes the PLUS version different
The ceramic conical burrs grind evenly, stay sharp for a long time, and don't heat up the grounds – ideal for filter, French press, and pour-over. The PLUS version stabilises the upper burr with an improved mount: this reduces play while turning and makes the grind more even. The catch container is glass.
Burrs are subjective – there's no single best one. For espresso-fine, highly consistent grinding, electric grinders or steel-conical hand grinders like the Comandante tend to be more consistent. That's our observation, one of many.

Who it's for
For anyone who grinds by hand and wants a stable, easy-to-read classic with a glass container – especially for filter and French press. If you want espresso-fine, highly consistent grinding, take a look at the Comandante or electric coffee grinders.
What goes with it
A brewer like the V60 NEO 02 or an AeroPress, filter papers, and a gooseneck kettle from the Hario collection as well as a scale from the Normcore range. Beans like the round Nutty Delight or the fruity Wild Peach.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference to the original Skerton?
The PLUS version has an improved mount that stabilises the upper burr. This reduces play while turning and gives a more even grind.
Is the Skerton PLUS suitable for espresso?
It's made primarily for filter, French press, and pour-over. Espresso-fine, highly consistent grinding is more reliably achieved with steel-conical or electric grinders.
What's the difference to the Skerton Pro?
On the Pro, the grind adjustment sits below the burr and the crank is reinforced. The PLUS is the more affordable version with a stabilising mount.
Roastery Tip
Grind a touch coarser for French press, a touch finer for pour-over – the ceramic discs give you a wide, easily controllable range for that, round with Nutty Delight, fruity with Wild Peach. That's our recommendation, one of many.
