Coffee gifts: ideas for coffee lovers, from gift voucher to dream machine
The ribbon comes loose, the paper rustles, and underneath appears a cup in a favourite colour, a bag of freshly roasted beans or a hand grinder that asks to be held straight away. The next morning, the first coffee made with it fills the kitchen with its aroma, and a little bit of you is in every cup. A coffee gift is a little luxury that comes back every day, for Christmas, for a birthday or just because. So the nicest question to start with is: who is your gift for, and what do they already have?
In short: Anyone who already has an espresso machine will be delighted with a coffee scale, a tamper, a milk jug or beautiful cups. You can treat filter coffee fans to a pour-over set or a hand grinder, and travellers to a manual lever machine that needs no electricity at all. Fresh beans from our roastery are almost always right, a private barista course gives an experience, and with the gift voucher from CHF 5 to CHF 500, the recipient chooses for themselves. For the big wish, you start straight with the dream machine. That is how we advise at Coffee Coaching Club.
For everyone who already has a machine
If the espresso machine is already in the kitchen, the small tools bring joy every morning. A coffee scale is used every day, because we brew espresso by weight, usually 14.5 to 17 grams of ground coffee at a ratio below 1:2. A tamper with a wooden handle sits snugly in the hand, a tamping station gives portafilter and tamper a beautiful home, and a milk jug invites the first latte art heart. A tamper fits one basket exactly; for most portafilters that means 58 millimetres. If you know the size, it makes a very personal gift; otherwise, scale and jug are the relaxed choice.
Two cups in a favourite colour are on the table every day: the ceramics from Loveramics come in many colours, from the espresso cup to the latte cup. We are the exclusive importer of Loveramics, Normcore, Weber Workshops, Subminimal and Varia in Switzerland. You will find more ideas among the cups for espresso and cappuccino and in our guide espresso accessories for beginners.
For filter coffee lovers
Anyone who brews their coffee by hand loves the quiet moment: the water draws fine circles over the ground coffee, and a clear, aromatic cup gathers in the glass server. A pour-over set with dripper and server makes a wonderful gift for this, from Hario in cheerful colours, for example. You will find ready-made gift sets, for example with a hand grinder, gooseneck kettle, dripper and glass carafe, among our bundles.
A hand grinder completes the ritual, with the soft crunch as you turn the handle and the aroma of freshly ground beans. Beautiful models come from Comandante, Timemore or Varia, and a gooseneck kettle goes with them perfectly. Our V60 guide shows you how to brew your first pour-over, and we compare two hand grinders in Comandante vs. Timemore.
On the go: coffee in the camper van and in the mountains
An espresso in the morning on the camping table is a special luxury. A manual lever machine from Flair Espresso needs no electricity at all: pour in hot water, pull the lever, and the espresso runs dark and dense into the cup. Some models can then be taken apart into just a few pieces and stowed in their carry case. We are the exclusive importer of Flair in Switzerland too, and we introduce the models in Flair Espresso: which model suits you?
A hand grinder for the rucksack goes well with it, along with a pocket-sized milk frother from Subminimal that charges via USB-C. You will find more for the outdoors, from Wacaco for example, among the outdoor coffee makers and equipment.
Coffee beans from our roastery
A bag of freshly roasted beans is almost always right, and the bag alone catches the eye, with vivid colours and a shimmering holographic side gusset. We roast our house coffees ourselves in our roastery in Zurich. For a full, sweet espresso and a cappuccino, chocolatey-nutty coffees such as Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight are the right fit; for fruit and freshness, Wild Peach with ripe peach or Bright Cassis with blackcurrant.
If the person drinks espresso one day and filter the next, an omniroast is a lovely choice, because it is roasted for several brewing methods. Our coffees come as whole beans in 250 g and 1 kg bags, and you will find all varieties under coffee beans. You can see which bean suits an espresso machine in coffee beans for espresso machines.
The big wish: machine and grinder
Sometimes the gift is a dream that has been on the list for a long time: an espresso machine of their own, perhaps from the whole family. Then it is worth starting straight with the dream machine, because you buy an espresso machine for many years, and our own workshop is there for servicing and repairs. Start with the look, and the technology confirms the choice: saturated groups, for example at La Marzocco or Arkel, deliver the most balanced interplay of aroma and body. Hybrids, for example at WPM or Ligre, show more aroma and bring some body with them.
A grinder belongs with the machine. Single dose is a ritual: because nothing stays in the grinder, you switch from bean to bean. Grind by weight is absolute convenience and consistency. If machine and grinder come together, we add up to CHF 150 in shop credit with the bundle bonus*, and a new machine comes with a private 60-minute barista introduction**. For guidance, see espresso machine for beginners and coffee grinder for beginners.
Give an experience: the private barista course
Some gifts are unwrapped, others are experienced. On the private barista course, the recipient stands at the machine themselves, alone, as a pair or with their own team. Instead of an off-the-shelf programme, the course is tailored entirely to them, from the first espresso to latte art, in German or English.
You give it as a voucher with an individual date in Bern or Zurich Oerlikon***. You will find everything about it on the private barista course page, and anyone who already has a machine learns directly on their own equipment in the barista course with your equipment.
The gift voucher: the choice stays open
If you would rather leave the choice to the recipient, the gift voucher is the relaxed solution. It is available from CHF 5 to CHF 500, is valid for the entire range, from beans and accessories to courses, and can be redeemed online as well as in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon. When you order, you can have it sent by email directly to the recipient, with a personal message and on the date of your choice.

Frequently asked questions
What do you give a coffee lover?
The nicest gift is one that suits the daily coffee moment. With their own espresso machine, the person will be delighted with a coffee scale, a tamper, a milk jug or beautiful cups; filter coffee fans with a pour-over set or a hand grinder. Fresh beans, a private barista course or a gift voucher are almost always right.
What do I give someone who already has everything?
An experience or something to enjoy. A private barista course, fresh beans from our roastery or two cups in their favourite colour bring something new to the table. With the gift voucher, the person chooses for themselves.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, the Coffee Coaching Club gift voucher is available from CHF 5 to CHF 500. It is valid for the entire range, online and in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon. You can have it sent by email directly to the recipient, with a personal message and on the date of your choice.
Which gift suits filter coffee fans?
A pour-over set with dripper and server, a hand grinder or a gooseneck kettle. Ready-made gift sets combine several of these pieces, and a light omniroast shows its fruit in the filter.
Which gift suits life on the go?
A manual lever machine from Flair Espresso, which needs no electricity at all, and a hand grinder to go with it. A pocket-sized milk frother that charges via USB-C makes fine milk foam even in a camper van or a hotel room.
Can you give a barista course as a gift?
Yes, you give our private barista course as a voucher for one or two people with an individual date. It takes place in Bern or Zurich Oerlikon, in German or English, and is tailored entirely to the recipient.
Which coffee beans make a good gift?
Beans that suit the person's taste. Chocolatey-nutty coffees such as Cozy Chocolate are wonderful for espresso and cappuccino, and light omniroasts such as Wild Peach taste lovely as espresso and as filter. We roast them ourselves in Zurich, as whole beans in 250 g or 1 kg bags.
