Ligre siji – Grind-by-Weight
You slide the portafilter into the holder, let go – and without pressing a button, the grinder starts grinding. It weighs as the grinds fall, accounts for the last bit in the air, and stops precisely at your dose. What remains is a portafilter with exactly the amount you wanted, not a crumb too much.
What makes the siji special
The Ligre siji grinds by weight. An integrated scale continuously measures how much coffee is in the portafilter, and predictive software accounts for the grinds still in transit between the chute and the basket – ensuring it hits the set dose to within 0.1 grams. Ligre has tested this accuracy with a robot over 50,000 repetitions. If you prefer to dose by time, that's also possible; grind-by-weight is the patented feature.
Grinding is done via 55mm flat steel burrs, continuously and micrometrically adjustable. Operation is touchless: insert the portafilter, the scale tares itself, and after about one second, the grinding process starts automatically. Two quantities for single and double can be saved and adjusted to the tenth of a gram. Which grinder is the "best" remains a matter of taste – like car engines; our opinion is one of many.
