What emerges below is a fine, uniformly ground tea powder – freshly ground, right before preparation. The integrated sieve retains coarser particles, ensuring the powder is fine enough for a cup or for dusting food.
This hand-operated ceramic grinder grinds loose green tea leaves into powder at home. It is intended for home use and does not replace an industrial stone mill, which is used to produce ceremonial matcha with its characteristic fineness. If you want to freshly grind your own green tea leaves and use the result immediately, this provides a simple, durable tool that requires no electricity.

Place tea leaves in the upper container, close the lid, and turn the crank. The ceramic grinder crushes the leaves, the ground powder collects in the lower part, and the sieve ensures that only the fine particles pass through. The fineness of the grind depends on the type of leaf and its dryness – the drier the leaf, the finer the result.
For anyone who wants to grind loose green tea themselves and use the powder fresh, whether in a cup or as a seasoning on food. The hand crank makes it independent of electricity and easy to clean. If you are looking for ready-made ceremonial matcha, instead opt directly for ground matcha.
You can find bowls, bamboo whisks, and complete matcha sets in our Tea Accessories Collection. To ensure the water is at the right temperature for tea preparation, it's worth checking out the kettles in our Varia Collection.
No. Ceremonial matcha is ground extremely fine in specialized stone mills. This hand grinder grinds loose green tea leaves into a fine powder for home use, but does not achieve the same fineness.
Loose, well-dried green tea leaves are best. The drier the leaf, the finer and more even the result. Moist leaves can clog the grinder.
The ceramic grinding mechanism can be disassembled and cleaned of powder residues with a dry brush or cloth. If necessary, rinse with a little water and allow to dry completely before reassembling.
